In Vitro Fertilization Procedure and Ultrasound
Using ultrasound to view (above) the ovary, the physician inserts the needle through the wall of the vagina into the ovary and removes the egg for use in IVF of GIFT. The egg is then fertilized with sperm in a laboratory dish (magnified view above) and then implanted in a uterus for gestation.
