It will cost tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars to do what you are talking about. Its not as simple as just taking sperm and an egg and voila’. There are tests, procedures, medications, treatments and doctor visits that add up to a LOT of money. It would be cheaper to reverse the vasectomy (somewhere around $ 5,000) and go about it the natural way than trying to do IVF.

One single treatment can cost around $ 10,000. Multiple cycles (which its incredibly common to have to attempt it multiple times)is upwards of $ 40,000+. Then there’s a $ 1,200 fee for injecting the sperm. Then there are $ 3600 in embryo freezing and transfer fees. Then there’s $ 700/year in frozen embryo/sperm storage. Then there’s all the follow-up doctor appointments, lab work, medications, etc to add in. VERY expensive. And don’t forget that the prices vary depending on where you live, what facility you use, etc. And most insurances do NOT cover IVF treatments unless you specifically pay for infertility insurance, so every last cent would come out of pocket.

If you are looking at doing this the quickest way and don’t care at what price, then IVF is your choice. It will probably still take several cycles to get pg and you will probably have multiples (just think of the octomom) and each cycle costs about $ 17,000. You cannot do IUI as this requires ejaculated sperm and not sperm harvested through aspiration. (See my first source) Sperm gathered through PESE, TESE, or MESA can not be used for IUI because it is “immature”, meaning it didn’t work itself through the pipes and wasn’t stored in the seminal vessicle and doesn’t have any of the other parts of semen that help sperm mature, swim, and thrive. Aspirated sperm cannot swim or penetrate an egg on their own so they can only be used for IVF.
