Many doctors prefer 5-day blastocyst. The embryo has spent more time in the lab showing strength and a blastocyst is more "natural" in the uterus in the sense of a normal cycle, the growth would be closer to a blastocyst when arriving at the uterus. There are still a few people who prefer 3-day believing the body is the best incubator for the embryo . . . but the majority seem to recommend the blast if possible.

All of that being said - we only had 2 of our 11 eggs fertilize. Instead of chancing them in the lab, we went with a 3-day transfer at the 8 cell point. We were worried with only 2, leaving them in the lab for 5 days could result in having nothing to transfer. Both stuck and my twins will turn 2 years old at the end of the summer! So, real life . . . 3 days works for us!

Best wishes & baby dust!

My clinic told me that they do better in you then in the lab! The only reason they would do a 5 day transfer is because you might have to many embryos to choice from that they want the best of the best to be placed back in!

I did a 3 day transfer and am 29 weeks pregnant now from my first IVF!

I was told by my RE during my transfer a month ago it was all about the quality of the embryos.
I did a 3 day transfer with grade A embryos. If it makes you feel at ease, I read that 3 day transfers can be just as successful as 5 day transfers.
As a result, we found out that we are now pregnant with twins!!

Relax during the the next 2 weeks, don't read anything else on transfers or IVF. It will drive you crazy.
Sending good vibes and hoping for sticky embies!!

I am currently undergoing IVF. Your chances of implantation is about 50% with one fresh fertilised egg and about 20% with a frozen embryo.

If you are concerned with multiple pregnancies just transfer one at a time.

My Dr warned me about the potential risk of an ectopic pregancy as even though it is placed into the uterus it still moves around for a few days so can implant anywhere.

unfortunately, I am not familiar with the IVF, however, I do know that you need to check with the doctor's office to see how he did the tubal ligation, because there are two different ways that doctors do this, some of them simply tie them and other actually cut and burn them before tying them. IF they were cut and burnt then unfortunately it can not be reversed. So I do hope that yours are only tied.
Wish you the best of luck.

if you go through ivf you do not have to worry about ectopic. the place the embryo directly in the uterus. as for multiple births it is a possibility. they place the number of embryos based on different things. i know they take the quality of the embryo and i think age is a factor also. you can set up an appointment and discuss your options, but know that there is also the possibilites of multiples and if you are not ok with that maybe you should rethink things

On my first two cycles, I had every symptom in the book---sore boobs, cramping, sensitivity to smells, etc. Both were BFN. My last cycle I had no symptoms (except sore boobs which I always have before my period starts) and it was BFP.

I also post on an IVF forum and from what I have seen, there is no correlation at all between having symptoms and getting a BFP. The meds mess with our bodies and make it impossible to tell what the cause is.

So yes, there is still just as much hope for you as ever! Good luck.

You say you want children, but do you stop to think whether the children will want to be here? It seems that most parents do not. I would appeal to you to not just make this about what *you* want.

Aside from that, if you are serious about the beliefs you describe, IVF-type fertility practices result in the destruction of many embryos. It kind of drives me crazy when people are outspokenly against abortion or stem cell research, and then go on to make use of fertility clinic procedures such as these.

As to the idea of a soul, I am not at all convinced that anyone has a soul, in the sense of some consciousness that somehow comes into a baby and continues beyond the death of the body. People talk about their souls all the time, but I have yet to identify mine... I'm just being honest and real about it here.

According to Islam, the soul enters the body after some time from fertilization. I think it is about 40 days. So, if the tests are done early enough, there is no soul in the embryo.
